Directory Shop

A directory shop follows from the logic and benefits of the store catalog of previous decades. Basically a directory shop is a website that aims to direct the consumer to useful shopping websites to meet specific needs. It is different from a simple search engine because it has shopping in mind as the chief purpose. 

In some ways a directory shop is like the yellow pages, except that you will have the link right in front of you so the overall process is more immediate. If you are a business, it can be very beneficial to have the website of your business listed in a well known directory shop. Sometimes this will require a one-time or recurring fee.

There are free directories which are updated by volunteers; however, these are more the exception than the rule. Generally some kind of revenue is generated either by ads or through listing fees.
